I’ve been thinking about how often we soften ourselves to keep things comfortable. How we filter what we say, hold back our boundaries, or reshape our truth so it lands in a way that won’t disrupt the dynamic. I don’t think real connection is built on that kind of carefulness. I think it asks for something more honest, more direct, more self-led. I’ve realized I don’t actually need people to walk on eggshells around me, and I don’t want to do that for others either.
I Am not delicate.
Speak your truth. I can listen without taking it personally.
I Am not delicate.
Set your boundaries. I understand they’re needed.
I Am not delicate.
Have a different opinion than me. Please, there’s value in hearing another perspective.
I Am strong.
I trust what feels true for me.
I Am sovereign in myself.
And I want that for you too, dear friend.
That kind of steadiness changes things. It means we can stay in the room with each other, even when it’s a little uncomfortable. It means we’re not constantly managing each other’s reactions or editing ourselves to be more digestible. It also means taking responsibility for our own experience. Trusting what feels true, honoring what we need, and allowing other people to do the same without making it personal.
To me, that’s where real respect lives. Not in agreement. Not in sameness, but in the ability to hold your ground while still being open. There’s a strength in that. Not rigid. Not guarded. Just… steady.
And I want that for you too, dear friend.
