I've been feeling a stronger and stronger pull toward real life. Toward being outside even more than I already am. Toward spending time with actual people. Toward doing things with my hands instead of staring at another screen.
Maybe it's because I'm spending more time in the forest. Maybe it's because I've been taking a course for work and discovered there isn't even a physical manual available anymore. The whole thing lives online. I found myself wanting a book. Something I could hold. Something I could take outside and read in the sun. Something I could highlight and scribble notes in. Something tangible.
Maybe it's less about the book, and more about what it represents?
The more time I spend online, the more I seem to crave real things. A visit instead of a text. A phone call instead of a thread. A walk through the woods. Time with the horses. Working in the garden. Actually being where my feet are, and leaving the headphones at home.
Don't get me wrong. I see the value in technology. I've learned a lot online. I've met incredible people online. My work wouldn't exist in the way it does without it, and I'll continue to use it.
Given the choice, I'll almost always choose a real conversation, a real experience, or time spent outside.
Less interest in consuming life. More interest in living it.
Anyone else feeling that pull?
